Our Team Angels

    Our Team Angels are the ones who keep us on track. They make sure the phones are answered, data is entered, messages are received and relayed. They coordinate the seniors with the volunteers to make sure that everyone’s needs are fulfilled – whether it’s a ride to the doctor or grocery store, a friendly phone call or visit, light yard work or walking Fido. Sometimes our Angels feel like a juggling circus clown trying to satisfy everyone’s needs, but they are truly a blessing to our organization and they do a marvelous job. They are the ones the volunteers and seniors talk to every day of the week, and most of them know their names by their voices. Our organization would fall apart without the hard work of our Team Angels.

    Becky Noel
    Executive Director

    Retired from the Tucson Police Department after 20 years. Has been doing volunteer work for over 15 years with various organizations and has sat on numerous boards.

    Agustin Urquidi
    President

    39 years of work experience with the State of Arizona as a supervisor and case manager in employment services and developmental disability programs. Retired in 2018. Has volunteered for ENVP for 6 years.

    Greta Orris
    Vice President

    Retired after a 40-year career as a geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey. Became an ENVP volunteer in 2023 after caring for her dad and personally having difficulty finding transportation for him after surgery.

    Carol Peske
    Secretary

    Freelance writer/editor who began her career in educational publishing and more recently has done work for a number of nonprofits. Perennial volunteer who has served on a number of boards.

    Ellen Waldo
    Treasurer

    Started out as a math teacher and quickly moved to spend 30+ years as a software engineer, retired and then 10 years as a tax professional until she retired a second time. She has been a phone coordinator and a driver for ENVP for 11 years.

    Jerry Tulino
    Board Member

    Long-time Tucson resident originally from New Jersey. Retired in 2014 after a decades-long career in IT and software management. Volunteer for ENVP for past 8 years among other community volunteer roles.

    Jennifer Gelander
    Board Member

    Recently retired, with 35+ years of experience in strategic communications, marketing, and non-profit-consulting. Long-term volunteer.

    Jon Oravec
    Board Member

    We are excited to welcome Jon Oravec to the Eastside Volunteers Board of Directors. Jon retired to Tucson with his wife Janet, near their daughter’s family. With over 25 years in senior HR leadership, Jon brings expertise in strategic planning, labor relations, and organizational development. He has held roles at leading healthcare systems including Tucson Medical Center and Johns Hopkins Medicine. Jon holds an MBA, a BA, and SPHR certification, and is a Certified Just Culture Champion. His experience as an adjunct faculty member reflects his commitment to learning. Jon looks forward to contributing his collaborative leadership to our mission.
